www.heritagechs.org
By Mr. Dan Van Uffelen
Heritage
Christian High School’s website is now ready for use! The web
committee’s enthusiastic work and creativity has paid off. Already
in its early stages, the website provides a wealth of helpful
school information. If you haven’t already checked out the site,
you’re probably wondering what specifically these anticipated
web pages have to offer.
As
you enter the www.heritagechs.org’s welcoming page, you will find
yourself greeted by the front door of the school. A list of seven
“rooms” awaits the click of a button to your left. The “About
Us” page is coming soon and will provide information as to who
we are and why we’re here as a Protestant Reformed School. The
“Faculty” page identifies each faculty member alongside of his/her
portrait and teaching history. A “Calendar” page neatly lists
the major dates and deadlines of the 2002-2003 school year. Providing
a list of courses, graduation requirements, the four-year program’s
course listings, and individual class descriptions, the handy
“Curriculum” page exists to provide parents, teachers, and students
with a clear understanding of the school’s organization. The “Publications”
page posts the past issues of the Headliner, the bi-monthly newsletter
written by Heritage students; the Defender, the quarterly newsletter
written by Heritage faculty; and the Quarterly Board Newsletters.
To keep us connected with affiliated and area churches and schools,
a “Links” page helps the viewer to instantly connect to other
Protestant Reformed schools and churches. Finally, a “Contact
Us” page provides the school’s address, phone and fax numbers,
and even an area map for directions to the school.
It
is the hope of the web committee that this website proves to be
a useful and pleasant tool to use for parents, teachers, students,
and the community. If there are any suggestions regarding the
website, the web committee would be happy to consider them.

Our Perspective
By Lee Wiltjer
As
we begin this school year our perspective and our minds should
be set toward heavenly treasures. We are not only here to get
good grades and pass, but to understand God and His Word more
fully.
As
our parents and teachers prepare to send us out into the world,
they must first help us to see the godly goals we ought to set
for ourselves and help us to seek a true understanding of His
Word.

Moving
Heritage
By Brandon Huisenga
Over
the summer, Heritage Christian High School was moved to a new section
in Calvary Reformed Church. There was a lot of work involved in
the move.
The office
was disassembled and reassembled in the new section. Books, desks,
filing cabinets, and much more were
taken
from the old classrooms to the new ones. New marker boards and bulletin
boards, clocks, and posters were hung in the classrooms. The supply
room was also moved to accommodate for the larger stock of supplies
needed for the school. Over 4,200 feet of wire was installed for
the database, and electric lines were installed in the offices and
classrooms.
All of
this and more was done this summer to get ready for the new school
year. We appreciate the work of all those who helped make the move
a success.
The
Big Transition
By Lori Vermeer
Moving
from grade school to high school is a much bigger transition for
me than it would be for the average student. The big reason for
this is that my old school, Hope Protestant Reformed Grade School,
and Heritage are a state apart! Going to school without my old friends
is really different, but it is fun to get to know new people.
Another
reason for the big transition is that I never graduated from grade
school. (Hope celebrates graduation after 9th grade, rather than
8th grade.) Sometimes it feels weird that I haven’t graduated like
everyone else at Heritage.
Quite
a few people have made this big transition easier for me. My classmates
always make me fit right in, and my dad, Mr. Vermeer, is always
there when I need something. I think I will like the change, although
it will definitely take some getting used to. |
