Mr. Ralph MedemaMr. Ralph Medema graduated from Dordt College with a B.A. in Biology in the Secondary Education (7-12) program. He taught various high school courses for 2 years in our Covenant Christian School in Lynden, WA.

He later moved back home to teach 7th grade in our Protestant Reformed Christian School of South Holland, IL, where he taught for 6 years. In 2004 he married Jennifer Rutgers; she formerly taught at Adams Christian School in Wyoming, Michigan. They have one child, Summer.

Mr. Medema is now serving as our administrator and athletic director, and teaching Art, Bible courses, and Physical Education.

Mr. Dan Van UffelenBorn and raised in Holland, Michigan, Mr. Dan Van Uffelen attended Grand Valley State University and earned his B.A. in English and Geography. After marrying Kate (Engelsma) on August 11, 2000 and finishing his student teaching at Fennville Public School and West Ottawa Public High School, he moved to South Holland, Illinois in 2001 to teach at Heritage Christian High School for its first year.

Mr. Van Uffelen teaches Church History, English I, American Literature, World Geography, Ancient & Medieval World History, and Mechanical Drawing. He also publishes Heritage Christian High School's bi-weekly newsletter, The Headliner.

Mr. Van Uffelen and his wife, Kate, have two children: Jacob and Emma.

Mr. Bob VermeerMr. Bob Vermeer was born and raised in northwest Iowa. He graduated from Calvin College in 1980 and taught from 1981 to 1985 in our Covenant Christian School in Lynden, Washington. In 1985, Mr. Vermeer began teaching at Covenant Christian High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There he taught a variety of mathematics, business, science, and computer courses.

Mr. Vermeer joined the Heritage Christian High School staff in 2002. He is currently teaching Advanced Algebra, FST (Functions, Statistics & Trigonometry), Precalculus and Discrete Mathematics, Keyboarding, and Computer Applications.

Mr. Vermeer and his wife, Mary Lou, have six children and six grandchildren. Rebecca is married to Rev. David Overway, and they have 2 children: Joseph and Elena. David is married to Jessica Hanko and they have 2 children: Sean and Hanna. Mary Jo is married to Daniel Terpstra and they have 1 child: Samantha. Michael is married to Beth De Jong, and they have 1 child: Caleb. Lori and Jonathan are still at home.

Mrs. Carrie BosmanMrs. Caroline (Huizenga) Bosman was born and raised in Randolph, Wisconsin, graduating from Ripon College in Wisconsin in 1997. After completing her student teaching she moved to Redlands, California, where she has taught 1st through 3rd grades for the past 5 and a half years at Hope Christian School. She also taught the 9th grade health class the past 2 years.

With a biology major, Mrs. Bosman joined our staff in 2003, and teaches Biology, Chemistry, Spanish I and Spanish II.

Mr. Joel NoormanMr. Joel Noorman was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After completing his student teaching at Rehoboth Christian School in Rehoboth, NM, Joel graduated from Calvin College with a B.A. in History and Psychology for Secondary Education (7-12). Joel moved to South Holland in August of 2004 to join the staff of Heritage Christian High School for his first year of teaching.

Mr. Noorman teaches courses in Ancient and Medieval World History, Post
World War II History, World Geography, Government, Applied Mathematics,
and Choir.

Mrs. Valerie DeKokBorn and raised in Hull, Iowa, Mrs. Valerie (Westra) DeKok graduated from Dordt College with a B.A. in English in Secondary Education. Before moving to South Holland to teach at Heritage Christian High School in 2004, she completed her student teaching at Sioux Center Public High School and Hull PRCS. She recently married Nathan DeKok on December 21, 2004.

Mrs. DeKok currently teaches Algebra, Composition, British Literature, and
College and Business English.
